The Okanagan Valley is home to a number of British Columbia and Canada’s top golf resorts. In 2006, Predator Ridge Golf Resort was ranked #32, and Gallagher’s Canyon Golf Course was #64 in Canada’s Top 100 according to Scoregolf.com Kelowna golfers are very fortunate and can enjoy having some of the best courses to choose from nearby. But for those people who are just taking up the game or don’t think they are quite ready to take on the big courses, spring golf lessons might be the way to go!
The City of Kelowna – Sport & Recreation annually partners up with The Golf Centre (Benvoulin Rd.) and it’s CPGA teaching pros to offer a full slate of affordable Spring Group Golf Lessons for adults, seniors and youth. With over 60 sets of lessons to choose from on the spring schedule, there is sure to be a day, time, and level suitable for your schedule. Adult programs are five, one hour lessons with groups for the beginner and intermediate golfers. Children and youth programs are three, one hour lessons followed by a mini tournament and lunch at the Michaelbrook Ranch Championship Putting Course on the Saturday after the last lesson.
For those of you looking for a little help right on the course, there are the Semi-Private Golf Playing Lessons. These programs partner up a golf teaching pro with your foursome for 9 holes of play at Michaelbrook Ranch and are only offered twice a season on Saturday, March 5 and Saturday, June 16 at 1pm and 3pm.
Randy Barr and Don Brayton are The Golf Centre’s CPGA Golf Teaching Professionals and both instructors bring a wealth of knowledge and experience to the programs. Randy has been a teaching professional for 14 years at some of the top golf resorts in the Valley including Sun Rivers, Quail Ridge, Salmon Arm and Shaughnessy Golf Clubs. Randy has trained at Jim McLean Golf Schools, Hank Heney Golf School, John Jacobs Golf School, Michael Hebron Top 50 teachers and CPGA workshops 1,2 and 3.
Don Brayton is the Head Teaching Professional at The Golf Centre and is a Class “A” certified instructor. Don has been instructing for 35 years at courses and facilities in British Columbia and Alberta.
