Blood has cops baffled

Vernon police have a crime scene -- but as yet, no crime.

RCMP are investigating the discovery of a couple of pools of blood in a parking lot just south of Vernon Jubilee Hospital across from the Village Market.

The blood was discovered late Wednesday morning.

"The police have made inquiries with area hospitals and nobody has come in with injuries that would be consistent with their findings at the parking lot," says RCMP spokesman Gord Molendyk.

"Inquiries around the neighbourhood have also failed to turn up any answers."

Molendyk says police are treating the discovery as a crime scene, but are appealing to the public for assistance from anyone who may have seen something suspicious in the area between 8 a.m. and 10:30 a.m.

"As the area is next to the highway, they are hoping someone may have seen something that can shed some light on this investigation."

Anyone with information is asked to call Vernon police or Crime Stoppers.
