Lumby creek on flood watch
by Rachael Kimola - Story: 39429

Its starting slowly, but flooding is underway in the north Okanagan.

Fire chief Tony Clayton says two homes in rural Lumby are on flood watch after a nearby creek came close to overflowing Sunday night.

“Two homes on Creighton Valley Road had to be sandbagged late Sunday to protect them from rising waters of the nearby Creighton Creek. We are keeping an eye on them, but it seems to have receded since Monday morning,” says Clayton.

He says people need to take caution near river banks.

“We are coming into high water season, so kids and pets especially should be kept away from river banks.”
