It was a beautiful day for a parade.
Hundreds of people packed the sidewalks around the YMCA in Rutland to watch the May Day Parade and take part in the community’s 100th Anniversary celebrations.
Candy, balloons, roses and toys were handed out to the crowd from the dozens of different floats. One group even managed to include a BBQ into their float and handed out free hot dogs.
Parent Michelle Donvan says the amount of goodies being given out was amazing.
“I’ve got a full bag full of candy my kids collected. It’s like Halloween all over again,” says Donovan.
Following the parade, children and parents alike gathered at Rutland park to enjoy games, food and family fun as part of the Centennial Celebrations.
