A cyclist is dead after being struck by a vehicle at the intersection of Gordon and Highway 97 in Kelowna.
The incident happened at around 5 p.m. Wednesday.
Police say the cyclist was westbound on Highway 97 and turned onto Gordon while the light was red.
They say the driver of a van hit the brakes but could not stop the vehicle in time.
The cyclist was thrown from his bike and suffered serious head injuries.
The 59-year-old victim was rushed to KGH where he was pronounced dead.
Police say he was not wearing a helmet.
The victim's name has not been released.
