A small forest fire in the Gillard Creek area just south of Kelowna has been contained.
B.C. Forest Service spokesman, Dale Bojahra, says the fire, which erupted early Monday morning, is 100 per cent contained.
"I got to fly over it myself for the first time today and actually scan it," says Bojahra.
"Today I think we found six of eight hot spots. I was able to find an area of heat, probably in most cases a foot in diameter."
Bojahra says crews will be back up Wednesday to treat the hot spots.
He indicates the fire, which started as a result of lightning, was officially mapped at 5.2 hectares in size.
Bojahra says the difficulty in fighting the fire stemmed from a number of fallen trees in the area.
He says many of those blew down late last fall.
Meantime, Bojahra says lightning Tuesday night sparked a couple more fires in the South Okanagan.
Those small spot fires were doused quickly.
