Vernon RCMP are investigating two separate assaults involving knives.
The first took place at the Upper Room Mission around 12:30 p.m. Sunday.
Gord Molendyk of the Vernon RCMP says a 41-year-old man was slashed with a utility knife.
“The man received a 12 inch slash across his chest, but only his shirt was cut. He wasn’t injured,” says Molendyk.
He says the suspect, another 41-year-old man, is also believed to be responsible for at least two other slashings with a utility knife.
“The suspect is known to police and will be appearing in court sometime Monday.”
The second incident took place around midnight on Sunday at Mojo’s, a new Vernon nightclub.
“A 21-year-old man was stabbed in the arm. He was taken to hospital for treatment of a non-life threatening injury.”
Molendyk says the suspect in that case has not been identified.
“Because the club is brand new, they don’t have any sort of surveillance system. We are speaking with the victim to try and identify the suspect.”
