The combination of heat and gravity proved to be too much for at least two vehicles on the Okanagan Connector.
An RV and boat were the first victims when they caught fire Sunday evening just past Brenda Mine hill.
The flames consumed both vehicles. Luckily, the fire didn't spread to the forests.
Ironically, there was another vehicle fire just a few hundred metres from the first blaze on Monday. This time the flames consumed a passenger van. The occupants were nowhere to be found.
The Westside Fire Department didn't respond because the fire was out of its jurisdiction and the Forest Ministry, which attended the scene, didn't attempt to douse the flames because they are not trained for handling vehicle fires.
