Théâtre la Seizième is hosting Regarde-moi, an original play by Isabelle Bélisle, produced by Ottawa’s Théâtre la Catapulte.
The play is a playful, energetic and relevant script that deals with the feelings of teenagers: Sandrine feels jealous and upset because her popular but conceited sister, Noemie, succeeds in all she does. For her birthday, Sandrine is given a book in which she reads the story of 17th Century French Duchesse de Langer and her two maids, sisters Marie and Bastienne. With the book comes a magical mirror that allows its owner to steal identities. Just as in the book, Sandrine uses the mirror to become somebody else, only to realize she is happier being herself. Two parallel, mirroring stories are intertwined in an interesting mise en abyme. This play is mysterious and full of surprises and will keep our young audience interested throughout the show.
