The Life & Arts Festival reminds all interested community members, artists and groups to attend the weekly public workshops to create lanterns for the 2008 FortisBC illuminArts Lantern Celebration.
“Our lantern workshops are a great way for everyone to be part of the magic!” says Heather Stack, FortisBC illuminArts Coordinator. “The workshops are free of charge and supplies are provided, but participants are encouraged to bring materials such as glass jars, tissue paper and their imaginations!” The workshops take place Thursdays from April 10 – May 1. Each “drop-in” session runs from 6:00pm - 9:00pm in the set shop of the Rotary Centre for the Arts, 421 Cawston Ave, Kelowna. However, due to limited space the Life & Arts Festival encourages individuals to pre-book a spot in order to avoid disappointment. Artists or community groups that are interested in producing larger installations for the FortisBC illuminArts Lantern Celebration, or to book a spot in the workshop, are asked to contact Heather Stack, FortisBC illuminArts Coordinator at heather.stack.productions@gmail.com or messages can be left at 250.868.3409. The FortisBC illuminArts Lantern Celebration takes place during the Life & Arts Festival on Saturday May 10, 5:00 pm–10:30 pm. The public are invited to either buy a lantern on site, or bring their handmade lantern to take part in two lantern processions to be held at 6:00pm starting at the BMO Festival Village on Cawston Ave and 8:00pm starting at the Dolphins Statue on Water Street. |
