ABOUT THE SCRIPT:
Our production of Penumbra started with music written when Sergei Ryga was, himself, in high School. The songs he created have been revisited years later, but now he is the adult, the teacher, the father. After teaching the songs and lyrics to his choir, the students, inspired after seeing the Academy Award nominated Across the Universe, offered to take the original songs and develop a story around the central characters of Greg, Angela, and Jamie. After months of exhausting work, an original musical production has been developed. Penumbra will premiere at the Creekside Theatre on May 6 at 8:00PM. The show runs each night until May 9. There are two matinees for school groups wishing to see the show during school hours. These are at 1:00pm May 8, and 9:15am May 9. Don’t miss this wonderful opportunity to share in this contemporary piece of Dramatic Theatre.

THE STORY:
“High school. Those last few years full of pivotal moments that shape the person you become. Some call it the best years of their life, others count the days until it’s over. For Greg and Angela, life isn’t as simple as “this or that”. Both live in the fear of incompletion. Angela is torn between her diverse palette of interests and friends, while Greg is trapped in a life not of his own. They are destined for each other. However, when Greg’s ex-girlfriend Jamie discovers these star-crossed lovers, jealousy twists her perspective of truth. Meanwhile, Josie and Emmett have problems of their own. Their ability to always find themselves in awkward situations never fails, nor their friendship. What will prevail: the immoral residue of high school rumors, or the deeper meaning of true love?”
