Joe Rich and Scotty Creek outdoor rinks open for winter fun

Get your skates out!

With winter arriving with a wallop Monday morning, more outdoor skating rinks are beginning to open.

"As winter weather conditions allow, outdoor ice rinks will be open in the RDCO Joe Rich and Scotty Creek community parks," said RDCO parks service manager Wayne Darlington.

An email statement indicates, "typically, these facilities are available starting in late December or early January when there are consistent freezing temperatures."

The most up-to-date information on the status of each RDCO outdoor ice rink can be obtained by calling 250-469-6300.

"For everyone’s safety, those using these outdoor skating rinks are asked to follow the latest COVID-19 public health guidelines," Darlington says.

RDCO parks staff maintain the Joe Rich ice surface while community volunteers support the Scotty Creek community park rink.
