GENEREUX, Gerald D. - Born in Swift Current, SK on April 28, 1932, died on September 30, 2008 at the age of 76.
He is survived by his loving wife Claire; four daughters: Mary Genereux (Frank Beyea) of Ottawa, ON, Mona Foreman of West Vancouver, BC, Laura Jean Pomerleau (Louis) of Brockville, ON, Katherine Sieben of Mission, BC; son Jason Genereux (Alicia) of Kelowna, BC; ten grandchildren: Andrea, Matthew, Natalie, Angelique, Simone, Alexander, Austin, Emma, Rachel and Adam. Predeceased by brothers Bob Genereux, Bill Genereux, his mother Mary Sawyer and his father William Edward Genereux.
In his younger years, Gerry was scouted by the New York Rangers and Chicago Black Hawks to play as a goalie. He attended the University of Saskatchewan for Civil Engineering. His earlier years were with the Saskatchewan Department of Highways. He then went on to running his own road construction company, where he was President of the Saskatchewan Road Builders Association. He continued to work in the heavy industrial equipment business in Canada and abroad for many years. In Kelowna, he managed the construction of the Lagoons and Dolphins. After retiring, he enjoyed spending time with his family and grandchildren.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday, October 3rd at 11:00 a.m. at St. Pius X Church, 1077 Fuller Avenue (corner of Fuller and Gordon) with Father Bart van Roijen as Celebrant. Interment to follow in Kelowna Memorial Park Cemetery.
